Wokyo™ Noodle Bar

It was going to be a lazy mid-week lunch and we wanted a place which would not rush us and had a cozy atmosphere in the Jumeirah Lake Towers neighbourhood. Had read good things about the food at Wokyo Noodle Bar which is what my contribution was to the suggestion list. Which is also where we ended up dining at.

Even though the weather was nice, we were unable to sit outdoors as there was some maintenance work being done. But inside was not bad either – we were right beside the open hustle-bustling kitchen. It has quite a few Asian décor influences and has a nice bright happy feel to it overall.

In terms of ordering, its simple. You go to the counter, order and pay and the food comes to your table. We did our ordering in batches – we weren’t in a hurry to finish our lunch.

I got there early so I decided to go ahead and order myself a drink. I got the Hibiscus iced tea –refreshing.

For starters we ordered the homemade spring rolls – nice

Seoul Flaming Drumsticks which was crunchy fried chicken drumsticks with roasted peanuts and spicy chilli sauce. When menus say ‘flaming’ I always assume it’s going to be that high level spice and I am waiting for that kick as soon as I bite in – with this one – it was not as spicy as I had expected, but the sauce did have a bit of a spicy after taste.

Chicken Panko (22AED), – Japanese-style breaded chicken strips with sweet chili sauce.

For the noodle meals – it was pretty straight forward – you choose the sauce you would like, the noodles (or base as they like to call it) and finally the protein. We picked 2 options – one with chicken in flaming chilli sauce with egg noodles and one with prawns in teriyaki sauce and  glass noodles.

Mochi Mochi was what we choose for dessert – we went with the custard flavour. Everyone at the table loved it, but it was not my cup of tea (the chocoholic in me did not enjoy with non-chocolate dessert).

And finally, if we had not sat there enough, I ordered an Iced Coffee Latte to wrap it all up.

The servers were friendly, the man at the counter was helpful it came to clarifying what we should try. The food was good – I would love to go back.
